Lift Weights to Lose That Spare Tire
Have you lost weight but still have a spare tire around your
midsection? If so, the answer to losing this fat for good is a simple
as doing both strength training and aerobic exercise.
In one recently published study, subjects were separated into three
groups: a control group that did not exercise, a group that performed
only aerobic exercise six days a week, and a group that performed three
aerobic workouts and three strength training workouts a week on
separate days. Diet was not changed in any of the groups.
Results from this study show that subjects who performed both aerobic
and strength training exercise lost more abdominal fat and gained more
muscle than the control and aerobic exercise groups.
The take-home message from this study is that you want to maximize your
weight loss program you need to not only perform aerobic exercise but
lift weights too.
