Vitamin B6 (pyridoxine, pyridoxal, pyridoxamine) is a water-soluble vitamin that is
essential in protein metabolism. It facilitates the release of glycogen
from the liver and muscle and is involved in the metabolism of fat and
nucleic acids. Vitamin B6 also helps to maintain the proper balance of
sodium and potassium, which regulate body fluids and promotes the
healthy functioning of the nervous and muscular system. Additionally,
vitamin B6 deficiency can impair an immune response by limiting nucleic
acid synthesis and the production of antibodies.
Vitamin B6 is used for the proper assimilation of protein and fat. Aids
in the conversion of tryptophan and
essential amino acid, to niacin and helps prevent various nervous and
skin disorders. Promotes the proper synthesis of antiaging nucleic
acids. Helps reduce dry mouth and urination problems caused by
anti-depressants. Reduces night muscle spasms, leg cramps, hand
numbness, certain forms of neuritis in the extremities and works as a
natural diuretic.
Vitamin B6 should be taken in equal amounts with Vitamin B1 and Vitamin B2
My personal notes about Vitamin B6.
Vitamin B6 should be taken as a complex and one of the best
natural sources for this and other B vitamins is Brewers Yeast.
The recommended daily allowance for vitamin B6 is 1.3 mg -
1.7 mg for men, 1.3 mg - 1.5 mg for women (pregnant 1.9 mg and
Lactating 2.0 mg)
