Vitamin P (P stands for Capillary Permeability Factor) also known as C Complex, Bioflavonoid, Rutin and Hesperidin. Vitamin P is a water soluble vitamin composed of citrin, rutin and hesperidin as well as flavones and flavonals. Vitamin P is necessary for the proper function and absorption of vitamin C, aids in increasing capillary strength, helps build resistance to infection, prevents and heals bleeding guns, helps in treatment of edema and dizziness due to disease of the inner ear. I have also found a few references to bioflavonoids being used to treat sports injuries. i.e. Pain relief, lessen symptoms of prolonged bleeding, and low serum calcium. Citrus bioflavonoids and related substances are used widely in Europe to treat diseases of the blood vessels and lymph system, including hemorrhoids, chronic venous insufficiency, leg ulcers, easy bruising, nose bleeds and lyphedema following breast cancer surgery. Vitamin P is best used with Vitamin C (Ascorbic Acid) and Calcium. Best sources of Bioflavonoids include the white material just beneath a citrus peel, as well as in peppers, grapes, pine bark, onions, garlic, blue and red berries, green tea and buckwheat. For the best sources of Vitamin P please consult the USDA website.
